🫛 Known today as the father of modern genetics, Gregor Mendel was an Augustinian friar who studied the genetic inheritance of pea plants. His paper, "Experiments On Plant Hybridization", was originally denied publishing because, at the time, it countered Darwin's theories on inheritance.
