There was a wide range of performance for my clients this year. Some of the newer varieties are bred to be more cold resistant. I have removed almost all of mine and replaced them with other things. My two favorite hydrangeas for no maintenance are oakleaf and the wild smooth/Arborescens hydrangea. Both native to parts of the United States and I literally don’t do anything to them.
