A Powerball ticket sold in Massachusetts won $1 million but just missed the $48 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Saturday, Dec. 14, the national Powerball site said.

In Georgia, players had another chance to take home significant winnings. The state's lottery officials reported that although no one claimed the top jackpot, a number of smaller prizes were won. As is typical with Powerball drawings, the winnings were distributed across various tiers, with several players winning smaller amounts.
