In Los Angeles, 38 people were arrested downtown on Saturday night, police said Sunday. In Huntington Beach, police arrested a convicted felon they said had a loaded handgun.
A series of protests were held around Orange County as part of a nationwide demonstration. Locally, there was a sharp focus on the recent ICE sweeps that have upended immigrant communities in the heart of OC.
One of the events, like those being held throughout the nation, is being held for the City of Newburgh, where participants carried signs and American flags near Montgomery and 2nd streets.
