MENASHA (WLUK) -- The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office confirms the body of an Appleton man was recovered near a vehicle submerged under ice on Little Lake Butte Des Morts. Officials were called to an area about 30 yards from the Ninth Street Boat landing in Menasha around 3:18 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say they removed a vehicle from under the ice of a lake in Winnebago County on Monday and now they say they have also recovered a body. According to the Menasha Police Department, officials have confirmed that a vehicle and the body of an Appleton man were found and removed

The dive team, sheriff’s deputies and Menasha police officers were dispatched to the 9th Street boat launch in Menasha shortly before 3 p.m. Monday. Authorities say the vehicle broke through ice on the lake.

Authorities from Winnebago County removed a vehicle from Little Lake Butte des Mortes on Monday. Local 5 was at the scene near the 9th Street boat ramp where the Neenah-Menasha Fire Department was helping to recover the vehicle.
