According to the National Weather Service, the highest snowfall amounts were reported in Olathe and Shawnee, while the lowest were in Leavenworth, Prairie Village, Weatherby Lake, Platte Woods and Oakview.

Wichita had 5.9 inches of snow fall on Thursday, bringing the January total up to 9.5 inches, according to National Weather Service data. That amount, as measured at the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, already ties for the 12th snowiest January on records dating back to 1888.

Snowplow drivers have been working long hours to clear the streets around the Kansas City area, and it seems there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
