Neighbors helping neighbors. For one day only, western North Carolina businesses made more money than they had since Hurricane Helene destroyed the area. Several businesses lined the Lake Lure Inn driveway with goods for supporters to buy.
Thousands visit Chimney Rock for Christmas celebration post-Hurricane Helene
Nearly 7,000 people visited the town for a Christmas celebration. The day was filled with live music, delicious food, and games. This comes after Hurricane Helene a few months ago left a trail of devastation in the western part of the state. The storm killed 103 people in NC, over 230 storm-related deaths total.
Holiday event allows visitors into Chimney Rock for first time since Helene
The town opened its doors to visitors for one day for the “Bring Christmas to Chimney Rock” event. The event gave visitors the chance to see the progress some of western North Carolina’s hardest communities have made since Helene ripped through the state in September.

An "Adopt A Shop in Chimney Rock" fundraising campaign was launched to help businesses recover. Every dollar donated helps small businesses rebuild. About 35 percent of the community relies on the shops for their livelihood.
