The TIFF breakout's producers discuss India's official submission for the Oscars and the themes and storytelling that made 'Lost Ladies' a hit.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Aamir Khan was asked about his decision to quit films. Aamir revealed that when he broke the news to his ex-wife Kiran Rao, she burst out crying and said, “you are leaving us.” But Aamir explained to her that he is actually leaving films and will spend more time with his family.

When asked how Kiran Rao reacted to his big decision, Aamir said, "She asked me to come to the balcony to talk alone. She said, 'You are leaving us'. I said, 'No, I am not leaving you, I am leaving films'. She said, 'You are a child of cinema, and if you are leaving films, you are leaving us.'"

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Kiran Rao opened up about wanting to branch out her production house, Kindling Pictures. She shared her desire to work with other producers and other studios as that will help them understand the capabilities of their own production house.
