After the case of an Orange County judge charged with murder for fatally shooting his wife ended in a mistrial Monday, Jeffrey Ferguson, the man in the center of the legal battle spoke exclusively with NBC Los Angeles on Thursday.

Prosecutors allege that an inebriated Ferguson — angered at his wife, Sheryl, mocking him — pulled out a Glock .40-caliber pistol he always carried in an ankle holster and intentionally shot her while the couple and their adult son were watching the television show “Breaking Bad” at their Anaheim Hills home.

Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Patrick Conlin Jr. on Feb. 26 denied a motion from Gary Demonn Chambers for a new trial in the death of Laron Donta Henning. Chambers claimed he shot Henning in self-defense in November 2022.

A mistrial has been declared as jurors could not reach a verdict in the murder trial of Orange County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ferguson.
