Israel detonated five car bombs in the Iranian capital Tehran amid an exchange of attacks between the two regional arch-foes, Iranian media said on Sunday. The state news agency IRNA, citing an informed source, said the explosions took place after Iranian air defenses successfully repelled the latest wave of Israeli strikes on Iran.

The retaliatory strikes came on Saturday, a day after Israel killed top Iranian military leaders and scientists and destroyed an aboveground nuclear enrichment plant near Natanz.
