U.S. diplomats have arrived in Syria for the first known face-to-face talks with the country's new leaders following the collapse of the Assad regime earlier this month. One of the goals is to find missing American journalist Austin Tice.

Syria's new rulers are forming a government after more than half a century of dictatorship under former leader Bashar al-Assad and his father.

Two journalists working for Kurdish media outlets in Turkey were killed in northern Syria on Thursday after their vehicle was allegedly targeted by a Turkish drone, Turkish media and a pro-Kurdish party said.
