Members of the largest trade union in the NHS have voted to accept a 5.5% pay deal on offer from the Scottish government. Unison said 89% of members who were balloted were in favour of the rise, which is in line with the deal offered to staff in England.

Unison members followed Unite in their decision to agree to a 5.5% pay rise which will be backdated from April.

NHS workers have overwhelmingly voted to accept a 5.5% pay rise from the Scottish Government. Unite the Union members who participated in the ballot voted 93% to accept the deal. It comes after both Unite and Unison urged their members to back the offer, although Unison’s ballot doesn’t close until Friday, September 20.
