Folie à Deux turned out to be a major disappointment both critically and at the box office, and Sony's Spider-Man Universe failed to properly take advantage of a calendar year light on Marvel Cinematic Universe titles.

Sony's first R-rated comic book movie Kraven the Hunter bombed in its domestic box office debut, hunting down only $11 million to come in third behind Thanksgiving blockbusters Moana 2 and Wicked. Kraven supplanted Madame Web to rank as the worst start ever for a Sony-produced Marvel comic book movie (the studio has rights to the Spider-Man universe),

Universal’s “Wicked” is in second this weekend with $22.3 million, bringing its domestic total to $358 million. Paramount’s “Gladiator II” is in fourth behind “Kraven” with $7.7 million in its fourth weekend for a $145 million domestic total.
