The Carolina Hurricanes have partnered with the NHL to fund the construction of two new street hockey rinks. Located at Apex Community Park, the two rinks will be 160x75 foot featuring aluminum prefabricated dasher board systems, player benches, penalty boxes, scorekeeper boxes, chain length fencing, Mateflex sport court tile and scoreboards.

RALEIGH, N.C. - Doug Warf, President of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that construction is underway on two new street hockey rinks at Apex Community Park. The rinks are the result of a partnership between the team and the NHL’s Industry Growth Fund,

The first major domino on the NHL trade market has fallen. On Jan. 24, the Colorado Avalanche dealt elite winger Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forwards Martin Necas and Jack Drury.

Rantanen is one of the NHL’s top playoff performers; he ranks fourth among active players in career playoff points per game (1.25) behind Edmonton Oilers forwards Connor McDavid (1.58), Leon Draisaitl (1.46) and his now former teammate MacKinnon (1.30) and helped Colorado win the Stanley Cup in 2022.
