As Aaron Boone’s pitchers tried to combat Bret Boone’s hitters, the jabs were metaphorical. At one point, those Boone vs. Boone punches were literal.

The Boone brothers met at home plate prior to Tuesday's series opener between the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers, going head to head for the first time since their playing days.

It wasn’t the only family reunion of the series, either. Rangers starter Jack Leiter and Yankees reliever Mark Leiter Jr. are cousins, the sons of former major leaguers Al and Mark Leiter. Before Tuesday’s game all four Leiter pitchers posed on the field for photos. Mark Leiter, Jr. pitched in relief against the Rangers on Tuesday.
