Purdue Pete did not always act alone. In the late '90s and early '00s he was accompanied by a 10-foot inflatable named Rowdy.

Purdue fans rallied (or created some voting bots) to lift the Boilermakers mascot to a rousing victory in the online contest. Pete received more than 5 million votes and grabbed 74% of the responses.
