North Carolina State University is pausing all hiring actions in colleges and units that report to the Office of the Provost, school officials said Friday.

Provost Warwick Arden said in a memo that the school’s leadership is concerned about its upcoming budgets. This is due to the uncertain impacts of the Trump administration’s executive orders, a potential federal government shutdown looming, and the financial challenges faced by the state government.

North Carolina State University leaders told college deans, vice provosts and senior vice provosts on Friday that the university would implement an immediate "pause on all hiring activities" in response to uncertainty about the federal budget.
