Elon Musk has openly backed the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, calling it Germany's only saviour. At a recent AfD campaign event, he urged supporters to move beyond their "past guilt" - an apparent reference to the country's Nazi past.

CNN senior international correspondent Frederik Pleitgen spoke exclusively to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz who took an opportunity on the campaign trail to criticize Elon Musk, telling CNN that the US billionaire “is intervening in favor of right-wing politicians all over Europe.
