They said the 67-year-old man from Nanuet, NY was swimming in the Atlantic Ocean on Hatteras Island. A bystander said he saw the man face down in the water.

The 67-year-old man from Nanuet, N.Y., was found face down in the water just east of Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Ramp 49, according to a press release from the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
