Honda Motor this week said it is moving production of its Civic Hybrid hatchback from Japan to the U.S. The announcement comes amid a barrage of tariffs by the Trump administration, including a 25% levy on imports from Canada and Mexico and 25% auto tariffs.

Honda confirms Civic Hybrid production is moving from Japan to Indiana this summer. Approximately 70 percent of the vehicles Honda sells in the US are manufactured locally. Trump’s 25 percent tariff threats are prompting automakers to shift production stateside.

Honda Motor will shift production of its U.S.-bound five-door Civic hybrid model from Japan to Indiana, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday.
