The mission comes four days after another commercial space company, Firefly Aerospace, successfully landed its spacecraft on the moon.

The final images from the ‘Athena’ lander seem to show it awkwardly approaching the Moon from its side. Intuitive Machines has since confirmed that the IM-2's landed on its side.
