LinkedIn announced that it has open-sourced its {py}gradle Python plug-in for the Gradle build automation system.

Gradle 6.5, the latest version of the popular JVM-based build management tool, has been introduced with an experimental file system watching capability designed to improve build times.

LinkedIn’s Gradle plugin was designed by the company to help it manage Hadoop jobs running on multiple frameworks, and its engineers have used it regularly while building data-driven apps.

That’s where the open source Gradle tool comes in — and it got $4.2 million today to continue to expand the commercial company behind the open source project.
