BitLocker is officially only available for Windows 10/11 Pro. However, the tool is actually also included in the Home versions, just hidden.

Microsoft has released out-of-band updates to fix a known issue causing Windows 10 systems to boot into BitLocker recovery after installing the May 2025 security updates.

Starting with version 24H2, Windows 11 enables BitLocker Device Encryption by default on new installations, and the encryption key is automatically stored on your Microsoft account.
