Sam Chiet, a game developer currently working on an unannounced title, ported Doom 1993 over to Notepad. The game doesn't actually play in Notepad.
Over the decades, people have managed to get the original Doom to run on all sorts of interesting devices, and a fan ports the game to Notepad.
At this point, it’s hard to believe there are any devices left that Doom hasn’t been made playable on, but Sam Chiet figured out a way to get the game working on Notepad at a stunning 60fps!
Windows Notepad is a simple text editor that has been around since the 1980s. This software commonly allows users to create and edit basic text documents.
Thankfully, the game is so old that it can run on pretty much anything. As YouYuber Samperson (Sam Chiet) demonstrates, the game will run on Notepad.
YouTube user kgsws uploaded a video of himself modding the game into itself, before showing actual gameplay of him playing Doom within Doom on PC.
The game's graphics are not great, but the environments and music stand out. The developer claims that DOOM may be run without any modifications to the default operating system Notepad.
