The new year brought a new pitch for Carlos Rodón, as the southpaw began toying with a cutter before the Yankees officially opened camp in mid-February.

Gavin Williams' slider morphed into a cutter last year on the injured list, so the Guardians had the idea to have him throw both in 2025. It's worked.

His cutter has been an even better pitch for him, as while it does not have the monstrous swing-and-miss rates of the four-seamer, it generates a ton of called strikes and soft contact.
