(ABC 6 News) — In Hawaii, the world’s most active volcano resumed its latest eruption on Wednesday night. This is the fifth episode from the Kilauea volcano since it started to erupt just before Christmas. Officials say earthquakes in the area could pose a significant hazard to visitors at the national park.

HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (HawaiiNewsNow) - After a 12 day pause, the summit eruption at Kilauea volcano entered its forth eruptive episode Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said.
Kilauea begins 5th episode of volcanic activity
The United States Geological Survey reported that small spatter fountains were coming from Kilauea at 2:57 p.m. when lava flow began at 2:59 p.m. The next round of the volcano’s activity began after eruptions started on Dec. 23, 2024. The volcano’s activity returned after its most recent pause over the weekend on Saturday, Jan. 18.
