It’s been more than two decades since Seagate began working on heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) — and now the company may finally be ready to release a hard drive using the technology. A new product page spotted by Tom’s Hardware shows an Exos M hard drive sporting up to 32TB of storage using Seagate’s Mozaic 3 Plus HAMR platform.

As noted by Tom's Hardware, where we first saw the HAMR coming down, Seagate seems to confuse Exos M and Exos M 3+ when it comes time to promote its literally hot hard drive tech. Presumably, early adopters will know the difference when prices are revealed.
Seagate Wields the Mighty HAMR, Preps 32TB Drive for Production
Western Digital announced its 32TB SMR drive in October, giving it a short lead on Seagate. The drive is aimed at data centers, but the company also announced drives for mere mortals at the same time. Those include the 26TB Ultrastar DC HC590 and the 26TB WD Gold Sata drive. Both of those drives use conventional magnetic recording, however.
