Temperatures on Sunday will be slightly cooler thanks to that passage, but otherwise not too terrible. In other good news, the Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 day outlook has the area under a 60% chance of seeing above normal temperatures this final week of January and into the beginning of February.

It is a big weekend in western New York! We aren’t expecting big weather, but there’s a big football game this weekend! And for the most part, weather won’t get in the way of any of your Bills game plans.

After a cold start this morning, temperatures will begin to warm up by the afternoon. Expect highs in the low 50s with plenty of sunshine. It will be a bit breezy at times today with some wind gusts kicking up to around 20 MPH. It gets cold again tonight with lows falling to around freezing by sunrise.

A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for Thursday due to a prolonged hard freeze during the morning hours.

The extreme cold is firmly in the past. Today remains our best chance for snow for the rest of the week. A couple slick spots cannot be ruled out depending on how much snow your community picks up, but we have had much worse road conditions this Winter.

By Thursday, we’ll see temperatures reaching the 30s, with forecasts indicating a return to the 40s by Saturday, although these still fall short of the average high of the mid-40s for this time of year.

In the wake of an historic snowstorm on Tuesday, we are posting another First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday as the focus shifts to dangerous cold and travel.
