A United Airlines flight bound for Puerto Rico made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport Saturday after a report of a mechanical issue, officials with the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Crews reported mechanical issues as the plane flew over the Atlantic Ocean before the decision was made to return to Newark.
