Subaru first revealed its new hybrid powertrain last summer, ushering in a new age for the company's iconic boxer engine, now supplemented with an electric motor. Now, there's finally a car to go alongside the powertrain: the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid.

Subaru of America, Inc. today announced the new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. The third-generation Subaru Crosstrek returns with a hybrid model for 2026, equipped with a next-generation Subaru series-parallel hybrid system and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for enhanced range and capability.

All trim levels of Subaru’s new hybrid will get X-Mode, which uses individual wheel braking to route power to the wheels with the best grip. If you have X-Mode, the corresponding counterpart to that is Hill Descent Control, which gets you back down whatever you just climbed up.

Subaru Crosstrek fans can rejoice. Their favorite spunky little crossover, once nothing more than a lifted Impreza, just got better. For the 2026 model year, Subaru is launching the Crosstrek Hybrid.
