FedEx Freight Holding Co. is raising $3.7 billion in its debut investment-grade dollar bond sale, ahead of its planned June 1 spinoff from FedEx Corp.

The new member of FedEx's executive committee has spent nearly four decades with the Memphis-based logistics giant and previously led major operational integrations that reshaped how the company moves packages.

FedEx is gearing up for another massive expansion at its Memphis stronghold, filing plans for a 1.6-million-square-foot, five-story e-commerce small-package sorting center at Memphis International Airport.

Raj Subramaniam said "super humanoid robots" with a "couple of elbows" would be better at automating deliveries.

The 1.6 million-square-foot facility at 2753 Sprankel Ave. will handle a “state-of-the art automated sort system,” according to documents.

United Parcel Service ( UPS) rallied in early action Tuesday after the delivery company issued a better-than-anticipated earnings report. Revenue was 3.2% lower than a year ago during the quarter at $21.5 billion, and adjusted EPS came in at $2.38 vs. $2.20 consensus.

The United States Postal Service issued a statement on Monday, Jan. 26 that said 38 states, including Wisconsin, may experience delays because of the winter weather's impact on the processing, transportation and delivery of mail and packages.

FedEx said customers “can continue to drop off and pick up your eligible shipments at the nearby FedEx Office location at 318 S. College Mall Road."
