The University of South Carolina has given the all clear and students no longer need to shelter in place. “There is no ongoing emergency at this time,” the Carolina Alert website states. “The Thomas Cooper Library building remains closed until further notice.

A report of an active shooter at the University of South Carolina’s campus library Sunday was part of a swatting hoax, a school spokesperson said.

The University of South Carolina Police Department said it believes the active shooter reports Sunday night were part of a swatting hoax. Police said they got two separate calls Sunday at 6:30:42 p.m. and 6:32:20 p.m, reporting an active shooter at the Thomas Cooper Library.
