The 2-11 Las Vegas Raiders will have to finish out the remainder of the 2024 season without their best player, as defensive end Maxx Crosby announced Saturday evening he is being shut down for the year due to an ankle injury.

Crosby being officially out is a rough setback for a team that was already done. The Raiders' record sits at 2-11, despite Crosby being tied for the NFL lead in tackles for loss with 17, to go with 7.5 sacks, 45 tackles and five passes defended. Per Pro Football Focus, he also ranks sixth in the league with 54 total pressures.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell missed practice Thursday as he recovers from a bone bruise in his left knee. O'Connell was injured during a 28-13 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Widely considered one of the true ironmen of the defensive line, with the Eastern Michigan product playing all 100 percent of the Raiders' defensive snaps in each of Las Vegas' last seven games, Crosby's injury is the latest crushing blow in a brutal season filled with very few bright spots.
