Minnesota Governor Tim Walz condemned Trump’s freeze on federal funds that state officials say put nearly $2 billion per month for police, health and childcare programs in limbo.

Minnesota governor Tim Walz has blasted Trump for trying to shut off the funding for law enforcement, health care, schools, veterans, and farmers, referring to it as "unprecedented" and "illegal.

A federal judge has blocked a federal funding freeze ordered by the Trump administration, but not before Minnesota leaders could react to its possible implications.

The unilateral decision by President Donald Trump to temporarily freeze federal funding already approved by Congress threatens up to $1.9 billion in monthly funding in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Walz said.

The governor's office said the freeze threatens $1.8 billion in federal funds usually allocated to the state each month.
