DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) - Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced who would be the next lieutenant governor of the state. At about 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, the Republican governor officially announced Iowa State Sen. Chris Cournoyer would take the position after Adam Gregg announced on Sept. 3 that he was resigning as lieutenant governor.
Reynolds selects Cournoyer as Iowa's lieutenant governor
Cournoyer has served in the Iowa Senate since 2019. Iowa has not had a lieutenant governor since September 2 when Adam Gregg resigned to become CEO of the Iowa Bankers Association. Reynolds waited until after the election to begin interviewing candidates for the position. The governor said Cournoyer will support a wide range of policy priorities.
