The federal Bureau of Prisons says it has increased staffing in recent months to make up for staggering shortfalls at the troubled New York City jail where Sean “Diddy” Combs is awaiting trial after pleading not guilty Tuesday to sex trafficking charges.

NEW YORK (AP) — As they unsuccessfully fought to keep Sean “Diddy” Combs out of jail after his sex trafficking arrest, the music mogul’s lawyers highlighted a litany of horrors at the Brooklyn federal lockup where he was headed: horrific conditions, rampant violence and multiple deaths.

TMZ released footage that purportedly shows Sean "Diddy" Combs being detained at the Park Hyatt New York the night before he was charged in court.

Carter ruled that Combs would remain in jail due to the risk of witness tampering and obstruction in his case, according to CNN and The New York Times. Carter said the government proved "by clear and convincing evidence" that no amount of bail could guarantee Combs wouldn't tamper with witnesses,

The agency’s push to fix the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn comes as detainees, advocates and judges have continued to raise alarms about “dangerous, barbaric conditions,” rampant violence and multiple deaths.

New footage captured the moment that Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in a New York City hotel Sept. 16 shortly before being charged with sex trafficking and racketeering.
