Buffalo Bills RB James Cook skipped training camp for "business" reasons as he seeks a new contract entering the final year of his rookie deal — casting doubt on his 2025 fantasy football outlook.

Following James Cook’s Sunday comments that he was sitting out of practice for “business” reasons as he seeks a contract extension, general manager Brandon Bean said he didn’t see the RB's move coming.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane appeared on the WGR 550 morning show on Monday. He said Cook’s decision to sit out came as a surprise. “It’s not something we were fully aware of until shortly before practice,” Beane said. “I get it. I understand it’s the world we’re in, I guess, of how players want to respond and things like that.”
