When Scottie Scheffler sealed his first Open Championship title at Royal Portrush, he wasn’t the only one cashing in. Right beside him, as always, was Ted Scott, his veteran caddie, strategist, and on-course psychologist, who walked away with a serious payday of his own.
Scott did not play collegiate golf, only spending some time playing mini-tour golf, but he did join Scheffler already with a ton of experience on the greens. He spent 15 years as a caddie with Bubba Watson, including two major wins, up until September 2021.
Scottie Scheffler has been world No. 1 for 147 weeks. He dominated the PGA Tour in 2024 with only Xander Schauffele coming even close. Scheffler is back to his winning ways in 2025 with wins at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his first PGA Championship title and his latest at the 2025 Memorial Tournament.
Ted Scott’s amazing life as a PGA Tour caddie should serve as a poster for the popular X meme: How it started, how it’s going.
