What is the best spot for day visitors. Looking for picnic area as close to water as possible, preferably with both sallow and deep areas, maybe with a nearby jump spot or rope swing...We will be there very early just in case.

Anywhere along the river. Lots of picnic tables and you can walk along the river too.

I can't remember for sure if they had grills but I don't think they did. Fishing rules I don't know but you have to follow Texas state law on that. I would have one just to be sure. The picnic …

The picnic area is beautiful tied above the river. If you turn right from the lot and follow the wide trail for a bit you will find a nice site on the right under a big tree. the riverside tables have no shade. Enjoy its a beautiful place.
