Came here on an arrival day for a visit. It was low tide at the time and the beach was super long. Did get to see a couple of Bald eagles on the beach hanging out. Great pictures and neat close ups o… Full review by John S

The beach is very serene, even though there were a lot of people walking around. Be prepared to get your feet/shoes wet if you want to walk any distance on the beach. Beautiful and relaxing area. Full review by luckyv
Is there a better time of year to visit to get the low tide pools?

I think summer is your best bet, not necessarily because of the tidal lows...but because of temperatures! The beach in summer will be cool and probably damp, but comfortable with layers. In winter, you will be very cold! If you are looking for tidal range information google Homer Tides. Another option is Dimond Creek at low tide...really excellent tide pooling. It's just north of Homer. Enjoy!
Hi everyone! My husband and I are looking to do some hiking in Kachemak at the end of June, specifically to Grewingk Glacier Lake. We understand we need to reach the Glacier Split trailhead by water to start our hike, but we were wondering if there were other more economical means of getting to the trailhead besides using the water taxi, which we have heard runs upward of $70/person round-trip. We also plan on getting picked up at Saddle trailhead the following day, since we hear Glacier Split is not a good idea for afternoon access. Any other suggestions would be welcome!

Did you know you could fly a float plane into the Grewingk Glacier Lake with a Naturalist and he has stored kayaks there and kayak around the icebergs? Then hike out to meet a water taxi back out. This is seasonal of course when the lake's ice has melted, but a phenominal experience.
