In addition, my wife and I found the Navy campus tour interesting--not just a campus, but a tour of the Naval Academy, so some extent, and it is fairly distinctive; not just academic, not just military--do see the chapel. The Governor's Mansion is pretty good, as is the old capital building/state house--historic. There is "Main Street" shopping, and a few other places off the main track. If in season, the water taxi/boat tours can be interesting. There's some good eating (arguably better off the beaten path) and good B&Bs. Fun place and fairly compact--not a 3-day kind of place.
